LET ME INTRODUCE MYSELF!!...My name is Beverly Elaine (Carter) Maxfield
I was born June 30, 1954 in Portland, Maine, daughter of Vernon Leland Carter , who passed away on January 17, 1994 and Pauline Sibony (Cook) Carter, who passed away March 12, 2003. Mom and Dad... you are both missed more than words can describe but I have "THE MEMORIES" to carry me through ........UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN MOM & DAD !! I LOVE YOU BOTH ....ALWAYS AND FOREVER!!

I am the youngest of two. I have a brother, Leland Carter who is a St. Patties Day Baby!! Here we are on our front porch on Rochester Street in Portand, Maine. Lee was on patrol duty for Nathan Clifford Elementary School that day making sure all the little ones crossed the streets safely.

I attended schools in Portland, Maine. I began with kindergarten at a place called "Oakdale" which had one large room with an indoor wooden slide and even a May Pole. Grades 1 through 6 were held at "Nathan Clifford" and what Wonderful Years!! It was just a few years back when I had the priviledge to attend a 100 year old birthday party for Nathan Clifford. It was a step back in time. I was 10 years old again. ( I wish...... ) We walked to and from school every day unless there was inclement weather and most of the time we even walked home for lunch break, back to school for afternoon classes and back home again. We surely got our exercise. The walk alone was worth it all when I look back on it all. We walked through the Parks that had so many beautiful trees, flowers and the best time was "Apple Blossom" time. How sweet the smell. Tulips, tiger lilys, apple blossoms, roses, the old Elm trees that lined the streets and park benches to stop along the way.
We could sit in our livingroom on the davenport and watch these so called "Golden Arches" light up... a new place they called "McDonald's" and you could get a hamburger for 15 cents.
Once 7th grade came around I enrolled into "King Junior High School ". It was a place where the cool kids went for grades 7th, 8th and 9th. I left King Junior High two months into my 9th grade, the Fall of "68". The State took our family home to make way for the so called "new interstate" . Modern times were a coming. Then in November of 1968, I entered Windham High School........ok!!! now let the teenage years roll....... drag racing, rag tops down on a warm summer's eve, Drive In's, a Chevelle SS, a Super Bee.... and pretty much Mopar's all the way. Just great times. I finished Windham High School on a "Wing and a Prayer "since majoring in "Fun" just did not get you into College. (Shame on me but with little regret). I tried .... well... maybe not.... and attended one year at SMVTI for Culinary Arts but... enough said ... I made the year and that was enough for me. I worked the Columbia Market and Federal Supermarket during High School so I could have the $$$ to get material to sew my own clothing, coats, and hats included. I then worked at Blue Cross and Blue Shield from 1973 until 1975. I got married to Nicholas on August 31, 1974............................. Geesh 34 years!!!.............that's a long time. This is US on our Wedding Day......
PHOTO OF OUR WEDDING DAY COMING SOON
Then I was a stay at home gal with the exception of working Saturdays from time to time at a local oil company. We still have a home back North, in Harrison, Maine where we lived since 1974. Harrison is a Town that my husband was born and grew up in, my parents had a cottage on Long Lake in Harrison which is where my brother and I spent alot of our time on those hot summer days, then when Nick and I got married we built two different homes in Harrison, one that we lived in from September 1974 to April 1977......
PHOTO OF OUR FIRST HOME IN HARRISON COMING SOON
Then our second home we began construction on in May 1977....and still own which is located on Route 35, in Harrison, Maine. This is a photo of a recent snow storm in December 2007.

Our home sits on a large parcel of land with my brother and sister-in-law's home in the center and my parents home on the opposite side. It was not until 1991 that I took a job to help set up a Marshalls store. Loved it!!! Retail is wonderful. They kept me on board and I remained working there until the summer of 1993 when I joined forces with an old Boss at Service Merchandise and worked Customer Service for 6 months. On January 12, 1994 I had the privledge to work at the Harrison Town Office and remained working there for 12 years until I decided it was time for "THE CHANGE". (I want to say thank you to Mike Thorne, Harrison Town Manager for that opportunity and always working around my crazy schedules.. I was very forntuate indeed. and I miss them all) You might say we worked, lived and played right in HARRISON, MAINE for a better part of our life. Now I am working on making my dream become a reality and it goes much further than this website sooo...one day you just might have a inside look if you check my website uder the category "My Crystal Ball" You just never know!!
We are now Florida residents. I have been coming to Largo since I was a very little girl. My Grandfather, Roscoe Cook, a Largo Police Officer, lived off from the Clearwater/Largo Road in Largo from the early 50's to the mid 80's. This is a photo of my grandfather in uniform on his patio out in the backyard.

It was always "MY WISH " to be able to live here in Largo.. the sunny South and .....HERE WE ARE! I must of wished on the right star. "STAR LIGHT, STAR BRIGHT, FIRST STAR I SEE TONIGHT, I WISH I MAY, I WISH I MIGHT, HAVE THE WISH I WISH TONIGHT" WISH GRANTED! although it did take a few years. This is such a blessed area.... "Paradise Island" best Park you could ever ask for.....

I love decorating, sewing, cooking, all that domestic stuff and traveling, but most importantly the love for meeting people and chatting with them. Every person is special and unique and each and evey one of us has something that we can contribute to society and in each other's daily lives. TAKE A MOMENT TO SHARE A SMILE, A FRIENDLY WORD, A HELPING HAND, AND PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER EACH AND EVERY DAY.
I AM SO THANKFUL TO BE LIVING IN THIS ...............US OF A!!'
GOD BLESS!!
I feel that one's biography is better described in pictures than words. In fact our wedding song was "If a Picture Could Paint a Thousand Words..... Pictures tell stories about a person, their childhood, their family, their lifestyle and how they became who they are today... SO I SHARE WITH YOU SOME PHOTOS OF SWEET DAYS GONE BY..................A TIME WHEN LESS WAS MORE!!
THE MEMORIES LIVE ON!!!

Mom, Dad and Me in 1959 Matching Skirts... Mom and Me
Fall day in 1960
My dearest childhood Girlfriend, Marie Grassi. Not a day went by.... friends we were her and I. Marie was one of our bridesmaids in our wedding years later in 1974. She lost her battle to cancer shortly thereafter.

June 1963
My new Schwin English bike for my birthday,.....how sweet.... taken in front of our house. Rode this bike all over the city and made great use of the blinker lights, the pouch on the back, the horn and the headlight. It was full speed ahead with all those gears yelling ...... "Look Mom NO hands"

Rochester Street the Summer of 1964
This is a picture of the street that I grew up on in front of the Deering Oaks in Portland, Maine. The neighborhood, once so active with family and friends and letting the good times roll NO longer exists because the State took this area of land and homes back in the Fall of 1968 . It is part of today's interstate . My memories of this time in my life ....live on.... The 1960 black Impala Chevy to the left of the photo was "OUR" family vehicle during the early 60's. How sweet she was.. a good many Sunday rides. I remember this car as being one of my favorite to this day.

Christmas Eve 1964
Ah!!! My homemade "Chocolate Cake" for a Christmas Eve delicacy...so proud
with two candles and an Angel lit to add to this special evening.
This is my family today!! Where has the time gone? My Brother, Lee and Sister-in-Law, Renee on the left and my husband, Nick and myself on the right.

Having Fun at Bush Gardens, Tampa Florida February 2007
